Seasonal Sundays (Week 31) The Best of Summer

Let's grab onto summer, shall we? This week's collection includes all the summer highlights, the dishes we make only in summer and maybe even just once. But somehow, such special summer recipes, well, they make summer summer.

Zucchini Bread with Carrot & Candied Ginger

Call me picky but for a long time now, I've been hunting for the one go-to zucchini bread recipe to call my own. This recipe has it all: a generous measure of grated zucchini, bright color from grated carrot, spice-forward from pantry spices. Most of all, this zucchini bread stays moist and fresh for a long time. Some times? It pays to be picky.

How to Sweeten Lemonade with Fruit Not Sugar

Many of us are on determined quests to reduce sugar consumption. But what about summer's favorite drink, lemonade? Can lemonade be sweetened with fruit instead of processed sugar? Homemade Fresh Basil Pesto Without Cheese

How to make basil pesto at home. My simple pesto recipe calls for just five ingredients and two easy-to-remember techniques to prevent the problems that we some times encounter with homemade pesto, bitterness and muddiness. My pesto recipe is made without cheese, that means that sweet, fresh basil flavor really lets loose.

Seasonal Sundays (Week 28) Summer "Extras"

Too hot to cook? If not yet, then soon. So here I've collected some of my very favorite "extra" recipes for summer, the little things that make it extra easy to put together a quick sandwich, salad, taco, pizza or a quick meal with a touch of something special, all without planning. More and more, it's these "little extras that make all the difference" that fascinate me.

Best-Ever Macaroni Salad

My own special recipe for Macaroni Salad, full of crunch (thank you, six different chopped vegetables) and a light and bright savory dressing (thank you, less mayo punched up and seasoned with lemon, mustard and dill pickle juice). It's the classic summer salad, just recast and much improved, like store-bought except homemade and better.
